this is one of my few negative opinions about paranorman u might want to look away
as much as i liked salma and wanted to see more of her, her phone conversation with norman while he was in the van kind of cheapened the movie’s authenticity a little bit?? it just bugs me that he had her number and spoke with her in a kind of friendly manner (as friendly as u can be when you think a zombie is trying to kill you) since a big point of the movie was that he didn’t know how to connect with ANYONE??? despite its circumstances the interaction just seemed too comfortable and normal to really feel consistent with norman’s other relationships
and we can easily assume from the rest of the movie that he and salma were not close at all but the way they talked in JUST THAT ONE SCENE makes me think that they’d at least talked a lot in class which ok in REAL LIFE a very reserved lonely person would probably have pretty regular interactions with classmates but this is fiction and you CAN and often SHOULD present these with hyperbole
i dunno it just
bugS me
I think Salma and Neil were friends though, the way they seemed to hang out together in one of the really early scenes? So I wouldn’t be surprised if he was on Neil’s phone or something
i just
yeah idk either really
Well it was Neil’s idea to call her and I think I remember the phone Norman used being different from the one he had when trying to find his uncle? So I’d say it was definitely Neil’s phone and he was the one who had the number
And while I agree it doesn’t make sense for them to be so comfortable talking, from what we see with Norman’s interactions with ghosts, I’d say he’s actually a pretty outgoing and sociable kid. He couldn’t connect with anyone because people turned him into an outcast due to his abilities. In fact I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a point being made about HIS social skills? He could connect with people fine, but the only time people would usually talk to him was to bully him. So he found it easier to just not talk to any living person ever.
So actually I think maybe with the urgency of the situation, a decent amount of classroom interaction, and both Norman and Selma’s personalities, it does kind of make sense that they’d talk to each other that way. Selma is snarky with EVERYone, including her teacher, while Norman gets along with people well if they’ll give him a chance.

Oh same.
I try not to reblog too many fandom-related stuff but… yeah.
Upsetting storytelling is upsetting.
so let’s discuss how the Lieutenant probably heard that some people got into the Equalist base and he instantly rounded everybody up to pose like this
“no no guys it’ll be totally badass just trust me they’ll shit their pants”
“and I’ll light up my fancy kali sticks once just as a threat you know”
“Amon has a thing for theatrics I think he’d be totally down for this”
